Mewen Tomac represents the new generation of French swimming. Born in 2001 and training at the EN Caen club, he has experienced a remarkable rise since 2022, the year he joined Cornet Vincent Ségurel’s “Objectif 2024” program.
His track record demonstrates consistent progress at the highest level.
In 2022, he distinguished himself at the European Championships in Rome by winning silver with the 4×100 medley relay and bronze with the 4×200 freestyle relay. That same year, he confirmed his national dominance by becoming the French champion in the 200m backstroke.
In 2023, he made his mark at the French Championships with new performances, where he retained his title in the 200m backstroke and also won at other distances, thus consolidating his position as a national leader in his specialty.
In 2024, he reached a new milestone in his career with a historic performance at the Paris international competitions, where he finished 4th in the 200m backstroke, coming very close to the podium and achieving the best result of his career on the international stage. This performance, coupled with his four French championship titles, confirms his status among the world elite in the discipline. In December 2024, he won his first world medal in short course in Budapest, taking bronze in the 200m backstroke (1’49″53).
